Introduce a “Cancel Task” indicator alongside the existing “Complete Task” functionality within the system. This would explicitly indicate when a task was intentionally NOT carried out, rather than showing as complete (misleading) and buried within comments.
Currently, when a task is no longer required or cannot be actioned, users rely on comments. Resulting in misleading task statuses, non clear audit trails, and time-consuming review processes when trying to understand task outcomes.
This would give us:
  • Cleaner audit trails - records that a task was not performed, eliminating ambiguity
  • Improved visibility - Users can quickly understand task outcomes without reviewing detailed comments
  • Enhanced reporting - Enables accurate metrics on cancelled vs completed work
